you don't.
It's a bit like getting hurricane insurance in southern florida.
It'll cost you more than it's worth.

I supposed you could get insurance for Mount Ranier, since there is no mountain with that name. Mount Rainier, on the other hand ... What good would it be if you could get it?

If Mt. Rainier had a major eruption, there would be so many houses destroyed, the costs would be so great, that the insurance company would not even begin to have enough money to pay for it. They would just declare bankruptcy, and MAYBE pay you about 0.2 cents (about $40 on a $200,000 house).

For a small eruption: Most policies provide coverage for Volcanic Action, including direct loss caused by ash, dust, particulate matter or lava flow and will cover the initial removal of ash, dust or particulate matter from the interior and exterior of the covered property. However, subsequent deposits resulting from the movement of volcanic dust or ash by wind or other means are not covered.

Search you local government website for info. on avaliable insurance companies..... you can also call local insurance companies and ask about their coverage or if they can refer you to a company that does cover volcanoes.
