I just found out that I am pregnant, a week over due for my period. I would like to know if any of you out there know of a good herbal remedy. I know that black and blue Cohosh, Penny Royal, & Slippery Elm Bark are some of the herbs that help with that kind of thing, but how much to take for how long? Any other remedies you know of? I dont want to do anything drastic, just a little nudge to possibly get nature to change it's mind.

I see all of you think I am a horrible person, but to let you know, I have been married for 10 years to a not so great guy that just picked up a drug habit, and raped me in a drug induced state. I have a 5 year old daughter whom I love very much, and I am an excellent mother who at one time wanted nothing more than to have a happy little family. After being beaten and raped by a man I entrusted my whole world to, I'd rather not have another baby with him that he can use against me. I have had several miscarriges before, when I was happy to be pregnant, and they were devistating to me, each of them. I know the alternatives, I know the risks. I just wanted advice, I'm 28 years old, not a teenager.

Nature does not have anything to do with this.... and if it did? nature does not change her mind once she has set a course.... understand that first....
second; you should not play with things you do not know enough about to know the "doses" the dangers, or anything
you are so very right in that those are old remedies for terminating an unwanted baby...... the first two are also for cramps, numbing pains, starting and increasing labor, bringing on your menses, one dilates... one relaxes muscles... mising with one or more of the other two brings on abortion even.... the last two not so familiar with... but all in the same area of herbs we do not use for a reason..... not even in some technically, medical manner (we do with some, like digitalis used based on fox glove)
the problem with these is that too much and you die... worse, you could be in a coma indefinitely with or without brain damage... too little and you have a baby still only not a healthy one..heart, lung, brain damage... the reason those methods are frowned on are those very ones...there are always ill effects.. the ones associated with these outweigh the good affects.... there are midwives who study and use herbals... but other than finding someone who truly is expert with them? the dosage is too tricky to risk your life.... I almost said too risky to rick the life of that innocent baby that is part of you... part you growing inside you.... hmm....
I realize I know nothing about you.. your situation.... and so my opinion is probably not one you would want to hear.. or care to know... I am going to share it anyway though..... I am pro-choice first off... so I am not going to push you on do not abort... that truly is your choice just as choosing life is my choice... see? I am pro-life, for me... that was my choice... and every woman has that right... !
if you are going to go and do... that....please seek a medical doctor... costs along with family finding out may be stopping you... I do not know, if it is.? tough... you made this bed.. deal with the consequences as an adult.... do not choose something that could very well harm you.....

I will tell you I would be pushing you to keep your baby if you were my daughter... nature did not choose to have a baby... you did when you chose to have sex, you chose to make this child ..... so understand nature had nothing to do with this... you should not try and have "nature nudged" to clean up the "mess...... "I used protection" is no excuse for feeling justified in making rash choices you do not know the future impacts on....
why do I say it is all on you? I am one of those who medically should not be able to have babies... I used protection... I have six! children!! but as a teen I was told I would never, ever hear the words "mommy" directed at me.... how sad that truly would have been.... it is proven and has been taught in schools since I was in school, I know cause I learned it! only way 100% to not get pregnant is DO NOT have sex.. if you are not ready to hear "mommy" spoken to you? do NOT do it! so, not only am I strongly for people abstaining if they are not ready..... I know the herbs only some.... but it would be irresponsible of me to post it up here, where any child could come along... and possibly hurt herself... the nurse who answered is very right.. even at right doses pregnancy is not always terminated.... If you are serious about not wanting to continue the pregnancy, go to Planned Parenthood and get a referral from them so someplace that can terminate the pregnancy safely and legally.
Herbal remedies are a crazy idea. You have no idea of the strength or concentration of anything you're messing about with, because herbal mixtures and concoctions aren't regulated or in any way evaluated for safety or effectivity. Anything that is capable of triggering an abortion is also capable of doing severe damage to your body.
If there were safe and effective methods of inducing abortion at home, if herbal remedies worked, women in the 1960's and 1970's would never have fought so hard to legalize medically safe abortion. You're kidding yourself if you think a herbal concoction is going to effortlessly and painlessly terminate your pregnancy. At best, you are going to be so sick that you'll be sorry you tried a do-it-yourself method.
Go to Planned Parenthood. And get counseling from them on a method of birth control that is safe, effective and reliable for your lifestyle so this doesn't happen again. Abortion (especially self-induced) is neither a safe nor a valid method of birth control.

Regarding your additional information, if you are staying with a man who has beaten you and raped you, you are not a good mother to your 5-year-old. You need to take her and get to a shelter where both of you can be safe. Staying with this man puts you and your daughter at great risk of harm. If something happens to you, what will become of your daughter?
Get away from this man, call your local domestic abuse hotline and find out where there is a shelter. Once you are out of this man's reach, go to Planned Parenthood and get a referal to a place where you can safely get medical help to terminate your pregnancy. Don't try to do it yourself. As I said, if things were that easy, women would never have fought so hard to make abortion legal and safe.

These can be VERY harmful to the baby if it survives the herbal remedies. If you do not want to have a baby, look into adopting or something. If you did take these herbs, it could really hurt the baby without expelling it. Then you would have to have an abortion knowing that YOU injured that innocent child. THINK about this YOU WILL REMEMBER THIS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!! AND YOU ARE HARMING NOT JUST YOUR OWN LIFE, BUT AN INNOCENT LITTLE LIFE.

There's nothing safe I can recommend, but just remember that anything you do intentionally to lose the pregnancy is not a miscarriage...it's abortion. Don't lie to yourself. But if you're cool with that, I'd recommend talking to your family practitioner, because sometimes they can recommend a pill or herbal remedy for such an early abortion. If not, you'll have to do the abortion pill or a D&C. But I wouldn't recommend that you put anything in your body to try to abort without the recommendation of a medical professional, because this is serious.

That's messed up. I hope to god that he decides to take that baby from you. You definitely do not deserve a child. Don't be so selfish. Have you ever considered going through the pregnancy and giving the baby up for adoption? There are people who want children so badly but can't have them. Think about others. I am 18 weeks pregnant and I can't even imagine what i would do if something were to happen to my baby.

Be aware though, that if it doesn't work, you need to be prepared to medically terminate the pregnancy-the herbal methods can cause harm to a developing fetus, and you could end up giving birth to a child with severe birth defects.

A week overdue doesn't necessarily mean you are pregnant, do a home test. If you are in the clear, take the pill for a few months before you take the chance again. If you are pregnant, you would regret aborting. Guilt overwhelms most women who do. Your baby would love you to bits if you would reconsider
Adoption is a real blessing to those who don't have a baby but want one. Choose a nice couple to give baby the life you would want him or her to have =)

You need to seek out a physician or family planning services. By trying to naturally induce an abortion you could end up causing serious birth defects or even damage your own health. If you know that pregnancy is not what is right for you then find a medical answer DO NOT take abortion into your own hands, it is VERY dangerous.

pls let me be the voice for this precious child that didn't choose to cause you pain, i am so sorry for the harsh cruel violent pain that was inflicted to you, you did not deserve that. This child i understand represents what happened to you, however there are other options like adoption. You are not God for this baby. This baby is inocent. It is a baby! pls give this baby a chance. You are in my prayers. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. I just lost a baby last week. I was eight wks along. We named him andrew jacob. We had a memorial for him and even had him cremated. I held my baby in the palm of my hand. The priest told me he went straight into the Lord's happiness. Life is no accident! We are all planned by our heavenly father. We are miracles and masterpieces to him! Your child is a miracle, and so are you! I pray that you will seek out some help from a local church who believe that life is a gift from God. In psalm 139 it speaks of how we are knit together in our mothers womb, and how He knew us before we were born. He can heal you because he loves you too! God bless you.

I think you need to see a doctor or go to Planned Parenthood about this. What if you just injure the unborn baby, and don't miscarry/abort? You may end up with a handicapped child, or you may become seriously ill yourself. This is a serious situation.

I would love to know what people think having sex is actually for... The sole purpose of sex is pro-creation. Yes, it's fun. Yes, it feels good. But why is it such a shock when a pregnancy happens? That life in you is a direct result of you not acting mature enough to handle sex. I pity your child. I pity you. If you get an abortion, or do anything to "miscarry," God will judge you as a killer. Pathetic.
