Swimming isn't a very core intensive sport, so it will tone your arms and legs before your stomach.

Swimming works practically all the muscles in your body. To lose weight you have to do more than swim though. Swimming doesnt really target you stomach it mostly targets your arms and legs.

not only do you use a lot of muscles, it also has very little to no sudden impact to your body. I can't think of the term I want right now, but like running, your feet and ankles can get sore or hurt just from the impact of feet to surface. There is no bad impact to your joints, etc. when you swim. So when they say it's the best exercise, i think they mean safest all body work out you can get.

after a few laps, say 10 of a 17 meter length of a pool, i feel light and swift in my freestyle swim i swim for an hour, which is about 20 to 30 laps and after that workout, i am so energized.

Swimming is a great workout as it works allof your muscles, fly, works your upper body, freestyle, back and breast as well, and they all work your lower legs. Fly is a great ab workout as you use yout abs to push your legs up and down and get that great big hip movement like a dolphin. Freestyle is also a good one as you are suppossed to roll your body from side to side whihc stretches your abs out and that works them as well. you may not be doing the stroke right to get maximum performance.

That is where most of the weight typically gathers so it would make sense that you would see loss of all fat there last. Try sit ups, crunches and "good morning" exercises too.

Results will of course depend on your age as well.

Give up alcohol, at least every other day. swim when your head reminds you, but not in circles! Good luck.
