Yes you need iTunes. But when you buy the iPod it comes with a disk to install iTunes into your computer.
Or you can download iTunes from apple.com

No, but you will need some ipod compatible software. You can use yamipod as instead of itunes if you want.

yes you need i-tunes i searched FOREVER for something different and couldn't find anything... well anything that worked. lol . so yup i think we are all screwed with i-tunes.
