Have you got a couple of weeks or so to learn them?

There are quite a few rules! Too many to post here!

I'm certain all of CA plays using NFHS rules. That is National Federation of High School Associations. The rules are very similar to ASA and NCAA rules. The are some differences though. I know ASA has a large presence in CA so you may be familiar with those rules. Some of the differences you won't notice as a player, unless you pitch.

NFHS has a website you can visit, but the rules are not online. You can order a rule book through their site. If you do get a case book also. I think they are about $7.00 apiece.

Here is a link to the NFHS (called sometimes "FED") discussion forum. It has LOTS of discussion by some pretty good Umpires.

BTW, I am a NFHS, ASA, NCAA longtime Umpire.

For the most part baseball/softball rules are universal, but there are alot of leagues that have caveats due to what ever situations arise. In baseball you haved to play a certain amount of innings for a game to be official in a 9 inning game it is 5 with the home team fcompleteing its fifth bat...your only play five or seven I suspect so thts where a local caveat would come in. you say the game was stopped ...well your coach should have been advised by the umps and agreed or filed a protest with the umps............if thats the case the school and its officials should get together and complete the game at another time or play a whole new game, whatever is agreed to. Was the lighting bad or where they being bad sports.....if your game is protested this should be mentioned

You will need to know what league you are in. If the league goes by "NSA" rules, then this is the site:

ASA rules:
