Actually, it wasn't Jessica. It was the boss at that movie studio and the judge/cartoon thing that was pretending to be human. They were just using Jessica as a tool by threatening her.

SPOILER WARNING! READ NO FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHODUNNIT!

In the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it was the corrupt judge.

In the original novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit, from which the movie was loosely adapted, Roger and Eddie Valiant were investigating—Roger’s murder!!!! The original Roger was dead, but he had left behind a doppleganger—a sort of shadow-image of himself when he took off at high speed. It wold eventually fade away. But, while the dop still existed, there was a chance to find out who was behind it.

The secret was, Roger was the guilty party! He didn’t mean to suicide, but he was the bad guy and his scheme turned out wrong. That’s probably why they adapted it for the movie— less criminal motives, more kid-friendly.

And in the end, like all great movie villains, the doppleganger didn’t die—he just faded away.
