Isn't really crowded these days? I used to really like the Green Mill but I took a date there once and we were told to stop talking during the band's set like it's the opera or something!

Hell no. Expensive and has run-of-the-mill "smooth jazz" acts most of the time. The best jazz spots in the city are either Andy's downtown or the Green Mill in Uptown. I personally think Green Mill is best for its combination of great jazz (regular appearances by the Deep Blue Jazz Trio and Kurt Elling alone make it head and shoulders above the Green Dolphin) and great atmosphere (pretty much unchanged since Al Capone went there.).

Definitely one of the best. A bit pricey, though.
