Yeah, I don't see why not. Not everyone where's black. Black to a funeral usually mean remorse, but I think many people don't want to let the color they where represent that they are mourning a death. How you present yourself shows enough. So go for whatever you want.

It's better to do things out of respect and with consideration of what people would think, when wearing something at any place. Dress should be appropriate, especially at a funeral. Brown, or any deep dark color for that matter, seems to be O.K., as long as the dress itself is appropriate.

What matters at a funeral is your intention to honor them and pay your respects. If someone thinks you have to dress a certain way or look a certain way to do so, they are shallow and dishonor that person's memory far more than your choice of fashion ever could. Show your love and ignore the shallow ones.

I think that the color and style should be nothing flashy...very conservative and subdued. Even navy blue is respectful. And yes brown is good too. Sorry for your loss.
