How come when a child is molested, and later on in life they are unable to deal with stress and normal functioning?

Because the events in your life good/bad when you are growing up are what help shape what you are today so it doesn't matter if it happened a long time ago, it's still with you.

Not all of them are unable to deal with stress and normal functioning later. there's lots of factors that play into who heals and who winds up hurting worse...

Sometimes victims of molestation are stuck at the emotional level as when they are molested.
