I am not sure I completely understand the question. If you truly "manipulate" the data you have, by definition, affected the contents.

However, if you run a SELECT statement through SQL, it will provide you with results without actually changing any data.

Alternatively, you could also copy tables or data to another location without affecting the content of the database.
