I had my membranes stripped at 3 o'cklock yeasterday at my doctors apointment. I was already 3 cm and 80% effaced. I just started having contractions about 30 min apart 4 hours ago. I ended up losing my mucus plug and only spotted for a few hours afterwards. For some it doesnt work and for others it will, it just depends on how ready your baby and body are.

You shouldn't bleed long. Getting your membranes stripped doesn't necessarily bring on labor, only time will tell.

I had my membranes stripped with my last pregnancy. It didn't work for me. I think my spotting only lasted that day. My doctor suggested sex. The sperm contain prostaglandins, which helps to soften the cervix. Good luck.

I think its more something to get mommy in the right frame of mind for labour....a stall tactic. I had mine stripped several times with the last baby and I don't think it helped any. You have to be dilated some for them to even be able to do it anyways. So labours coming dear.
