if you are trying to build muscle do you need to warm up properly (aerobics for 5-10 minutes/ warm up sets) and is it advisable to workout after basketball practice(its pretty intense but not enough for me to be gasping for breath)

all the trainers you'll ask will say that warming up prevents injuries, but i've been bodybuilding for years, and i think its a waste of time. of coarse don't try anything serious that you don't know how to do, but i've never had a problem not warming up. as far as basketball goes, if you're trying to gain muscle and size, cardio (running, or any activity that raises your hart rate significantly) is the enemy. you'll accidentally burn muscle for fuel. there's no way around it. but if your going to play ball and workout, you should push weights first, then ball later. the energy you use playing will sabotage your workout. if you can, the best combination is to workout on one day, then play ball on another. hope this helped.

to be honest yes u have to warm up but doing aerobics for 5-10 u dont have to do all u ahve to do is get u muclse loose by Stretching. now if u tryin gto get built or gain musle u should workout 5 time a week. the first week u do 3 set of heavy liftign and work out and 2 day ligth the next week 3 days ligth and 2 days heavy. and this working out shoudl be done b4 playing basketball. second u should get a partner to work out with someone that can push u to ure limit. and u should also change u diet. and try to have a set time to work out.

To answer your first question I think aerobics is a good way to get ready for basketball practice so do aerobics, then basketball practice, then workout. good luck man
