You have to get a trickle charger that has a jump start function. That or you get another fully charged car battery and jump it that way.

Virtually all cars nowadays have 12V batteries with -ve connected to the chassis (grounded). That's used as a return path to save money instead of running another expensive copper wire, in particular the starter motor has only one terminal and is grounded through the engine. So it's normal to have some electricity flowing through the car chassis. But seeing as the -ve battery ternimal has a reliable connection to ground already, why not just put the jumper cable on that instead of trying to find some other paint-and-rust-free good connection point to use. Blowing up a car seems extreme (though there was one blew up here last night because the guy had a leaky acetylene cylinder in the trunk; went off when he used the remote to unlock the door). You certainly don't want to run a starting current of a hundred-odd amps through some bit of the bodywork that isn't thick enough to take it, or down the exhaust pipe of something crazy, which I suppose might cause the O2 sensor to give a spurious reading.

I bought a battery booster that has outlets, lights, air compressor and gauge all in one for $50 brand new at flea market. It has helped me out a lot. You can carry it with one hand. Try wiggling cables for now. Maybe it's just a bad or corroded connection. But with this cold weather, I think it's the battery doesn't have enough power. If you know someone who has a tripe A card, they can use it on your car. Just a few suggestions.

You can only 'jump' a vehicle with another 12Volt car battery with heavy cables. The starter draws over 200 Amps.
Your next bet is to put a battery charger on it for a couple hours.

I have seen a battery pack for sale at the stores that advertise jump start capability but do not know first hand if they do the job. You could carry this in your trunk...

The onlyway you could do that would be to have one of those portable jump packs. They work great by the way.
Best of Luck!

Go to the auto parts store, or even Walmart...they sell emergency jump start power packs, with instructions.
