Depends on which one you are referring to.

Eratosthenes was the first to actually come up with a reasonable calculation of the circumferance in the 3rd century BC.

Contrary to popular belief, most learned people since then have accepted a spherical earth to be true. Geocentrism was a little later to be discarded.

The original David Koresh(not the Waco whacko)claimed the world was concave!He supposedly proved it using a level,string,and a body of standing water.

erasthothenes may have calculated the circumference of the earth but it was the voyage of ferdinand magellan who proved that the earth is round. magellan sailed from spain and circumnavigate the glove he was killed in mactan philippines ,his voyage was completed by his remaining crews.
