Is the claim of being a "wartime president" just an excuse to assume unprecedented powers over the people, restricting their liberties?

Eisenhower served in combat. George Bush wimped out. How many members of the Bush family are in uniform?

FDR was a wartime president. He called on the people to make sacrifices for the cause and they did. They knew he meant it. What sacrifices have the American people made for George Bush's war, other than the troops? What commitment do the people have to get involved in Iraq's religious squabbles? Why should they?

Is the claim to be a "wartime president" supposed to motivate us to bow down and obey and say oh yes, dear leader, we will sacrifice ourselves for whatever you tell us is your holy cause? We will docilely give up our American freedoms so long as you tell us you are *gasp* a WARTIME PRESIDENT, oh yes, *grovel grovel*.

My answer is fear that make people support the war and now everyone wakes up from their dreams. Well it is about time that we learn how to get along with the world around us.Well now we need to raise a question " who is going to pay for 3 trillion dollars? " Can we ask our war time President about the deficit? You know better that we do not have Right and Privacy since 911 and the American people has to question their government about the power over our people in the name of war and religion. It is very sad that we are in crisis because, we make our mistake and it is about time to correct it. Then we can move on. Still nothing happens in Washington yet and everything is struck at this point. This is my personal opinion.

Iraq is not a real war. It is more like sitting on an ant hill. To really fight the war you would have to slaughter all of the ants. We definably have the capability to do that - just not the stomach for it. They have the stomach for it. That is why we need to keep them away from nukes.
