When I first started, I paid Harris Upham $35 a trade, back, um, a few years. I use Scottrade today and pay only $7, except some small change extra when buying stuff under a dollar a share. I understand daytraders get a special rate, but they have to have certain volumes and trading practices to get it. I think TDAmeritrade charges about $10 and Schwab about $15.

Usually $7 to $9 per trade, lower than that you get hit with slow execution or hidden fees.

I use Trade King. They charge $4.95 to trade any number of shares of a stock.
