This is not using real fur, it's using the "wool" from it. You don't kill the animal to make a sweater or anything like that.

Alpaca feels divine and if the Alpacas aren't brushed to get rid of the coat they get knots and tangles and dreads; that's cruel to the poor beasts.
It's warm and it wears well for a long time. Versace used it in the last winter line. My mother has an alpaca sweater that she got in the 50's it's still beautiful. Lucky you to get alpaca- cuddle it and enjoy it.It will never go out of style, classics rarely do.

I would say go for it, so long as the animal wasn't hurt, which in this case I believe they're not, then why not!

It's certainly no worse than farming a cow or a pig for meat, for which they have to die... At least farming for brushed hair means they need to live to keep producing...

I may be wrong, but I have grown up in a farming community...

I personally love fur. I would not agree with killing specifically for it, I disagree with that, however I have a coney (rabbit) coat that my aunt passed on to me from the 60's.

My Grandfather was a gamekeeper and my father breeds animals for meat, but they are virtually hand reared, they are free range, they are loved and they are killed "humanely" and at home.

If you're going to eat meat you can never condemn any other use of the animal. If you eat meat it is hypocritical to not use the rest of the animal too, otherwise it is just a waste. We often wear leather shoes, for example.

By the way, I rarely, if ever, eat meat, I prefer bean meals.

ps, I know I am so going to get slated for this answer, but it's true!
