People watch TV shows like real world and listen to rappers bragg about how much time they spend in the club. People get a false sence that we have to constantly be talking to someone or doing something so that we feel like we have a life. Yet, when I look on the internet, there are thousands of people surfing and asking questions. Is the amount of traffic on myspace, You tube, and Yahoo QA proof that most people stay at home and rest up for the next day. Sociology research Question?

Nope. Some of us log on from work, and are getting paid. Like me.

I am a person - I do not get a "false SENSE" when I communicate with others I could not normally communicate with. Actually I do not watch many TV shows like 'Real World', and I rarely listen to rappers brag, because that is quite boring.
This "traffic" is proof that people like to communicate in many ways. If this is a Sociology question, why did you post it under Politics and Government?

I do get this guilty feeling that the amount of precious time I spent answering people's questions could have been utilized by me for something more worthwhile like cleaning my house, reading a good book, going out and having fun, or editing some paperwork/documents for an important project. But this YA can get addicting, too. so, I do discipline myself. I don't turn on the internet when I arrive home from work. I just do this in my lull moments at work, or on weekends.

Personally, I have a VERY mondane job that requires me to sit at a desk and not do very much ( i can't believe i get paid for this). So I am being productive, but I have pretty much all day to like check e mail and myspace and do homework. If I had an actual job then I wouldn't have time. Cause I only get online at work, never at home.

What really cracks me up is how some people take this crap SOOOOO seriously! A friend of mine received several death threats from someone on YA, just because the freak didn't like my friend's answers.

I've seen people feuding back and forth, name-calling on YA and on blogs...totally insane.

This is supposed to be FUN, for goodness sakes. If you're taking it *that* seriously, GET A LIFE!

Well, in my opinion, people always have business to do. Yes, people do use the internet for gaming, socializing, and web browsing, but its not only them that make up the millions that go online everyday. Business workers using online recourse to help them type papers for work, people using internet sites to help them improve their life style, for students who do research papers. So, not every who uses the internet doesn't have a life, they obviously do, some people like to use it for fun or for work.

Pretty much. But, I'm on my way to get ready for dinner with my boyfriend at this new hip restaurant, drinks, dancing and home. So, I guess my life isn't that boring.
