I heard that two guys in Scotland were supposed to be convicted of a crime but elected for 'trial by combat'. Is this still legal? I'd like to meet my accusers this way, i'd batter 'em.

We kinda have the same system in the United States, but it's more of a trial by bank account.

You are living in the past, your head is up your @r$e, we have courts now, and battering people is a criminal offence. Stick to fish. We no longer use trial by ordeal either. Nore do we flog, hang, quarter, duck etc, This ain't Guantanamo, it's the UK, though we are heading that way.

The US does not have that option. You did not specify what country you are in. Yahoo often posts these questions in multiple countries.
