They're both pretty names. I like Laila a bit better than Lydia. Although...if you decide on Laila..why not try Isabella for the middle name instead of Isabelle. Laila Isabella sounds nice.

Isabelle is French-Spanish, it used to be the name of French noble women. It means "chaste" or "beautiful"

Laila is Arabic and means "night".

Lydia is Greek and means "girl from Lydia". Lydia is part of Greece.

So both combinations are no-no because you are throwing two totally different languages/cultures together. (It is like eating pickles coated with chocolate.) I would recommend that if you are set on "Isabelle", you pick a French or Spanish name to go with it.

What about Louise Isabelle? Or Laure Isabelle? Liane Isabelle? Leona Isabelle? Leonce Isabelle? Lys Isabelle?

I recommend Lys Isabelle, because it means "Beautiful Lily". Lys is like Isabelle a very old French name. The Lys was the symbol of the French royality, it goes very well together with Isabelle being the name of highborn French ladies. The same goes for Louise (female form of Louis), because Louis was the name of several French kings.

I love both of these names. Laila was one of my top picks when I was pregnant but my husband wasn't crazy about it. Luckily for us we had a boy. :)

With the middle name I vote for Lydia Isabelle.

I used to not care for combinations that ended with the same sound but lately I have had a change of heart...
How about Lydia Isabella or Lydia Sophia?

I also like: Lydia Claire and Lydia Eve.

Laila needs a different type of middle name...
maybe Laila Ryan, Laila Daisy, or Laila Paige. I think that it goes wells with a name that a bit more fun and flirty. :)

Good Luck! SD

I'd go for Laila...My best friend couldn't choose beween Laila, Lila and lilli but she went for Laila and it just suits her lovely babygirl! It means night in Arabic by the way..

Lydia's nice as well but Laila's more fashionable! It's unique and pretty!

Congratulations!

P.S: I prefer Laila Isabelle to Laila Isabella! The later sounds like Christina Aguilera or Anna Kournikova!

I think Laila Isabelle has a better flow, Lydia Isabelle sort of sounds like it has one syllable too many. But they are both pretty.
