because, for the most part African Americans don't listen to rock music. Therefore, record companies are less likely to invest in a black rock group because they aren't sure what type of audience they will have. Trust me if there was money in it some producer would throw one together an market it to us. If you think it would be profitable you should talk it up, try it, suggest it -- something.

In the 80s "Living Color". I think Lenny Kravitz is a rock star. Wicked Wisdom a band form by Will Smith's wife Jada. Didn't Ice-T had a rock band called Body Count? Yeah. I forgot about Jimi Hendrix. People are people. I have a black girlfriend who likes to go line dancing. She doesn't like to go because she said the white people are racist when she do. Let people enjoy life instead of placing race on everything.

You've never heard of Fishbone? Maybe try Ebay, Amazon or iTunes and look for "When Problems Arise." Great song. Old though.
Besides, Jimi Hendrix is STILL a rock icon and there are other influential Blacks in rock (currently or formerly): Slash from Guns N Roses and the lead singer of Thin Lizzy.
And how could I forget In Living Color and Lenny Kravitz? Thanks, to the above poster...

There have been African-American rock bands but there are more white ones, just like there are more black rappers, there are white ones too just not as many, and for whoever said that African-Americans invented rock was wrong Elvis invented rock, African-Americans invented jazz, not trying to sound mean, I mean I love rock and jazz.

Af-Am musicians have a broader variety of musical interests and traditional black music is sensational. I would say at LEAST 2 to 1 whites want to know black music as the other way around AND at least 50% of the great white music is heavily infleuanced by black but not the other way around.
It makes clear sense to me.

Well most BLACKS cant be pulled by rock. It does not fit the culture. In rock the issues cant be explained like they could be another genre. Therefore rap has a poetic edge to it so it makes things more flow-able with beats.
There have been black bands like Living Color.
