I hate them both but don't you think rape is worst than selling drugs

Good question! Unless people start raising hell, nothing will ever be done about it either!

One reason: mandatory sentencing of drug offenders. There are mandatory sentences mandated by the federal and state governments for drug offenders giving judges no say in how long these offenders stay in jail. This is not really the case with rape. Illegal drugs are on the news almost everyday and are taken very seriously, unfortunately other crimes, like rape, are sometimes ignored.

Unfortunately, our legal system is still dominated by males--and for a number of reasons, those in law enforcement/law tend to be more sexist than average. So these characters tend to view rape as "just not that serious" or they blame the victim.

Another way of putting this: if you look at the extreme conservative ideology, it is based on enforcing socieal conformity to a set of norms that are discriminatory and place white males at the apex. Recognizing the equality and rights of women threatens that ideology--so rape is viewed less seriously. But that ideology also demands that substance abuse be considered a grevious sin--the notion that a non-puritanical lifestyle might be viable threatens their world view. So it is harshly suppresed.

I like your question - given that it is truly happening. Did you ever consider that light sentences for these rape offenders, may be due to the guilt that some of these authority figures may be involved in. I don't know why they do it - but assume there is a hidden reason behind it. Go think!

100% worse but the law makers are some of the more quiet rapists and murderers and law breakers of all times. The best place to hide is where they would least expect you to hide, in the very organization that's against what they are.

Because the ACLU doesn't defend drug dealers in court.
