I put a sheet on the bottom then wrap the baby up in a blanket as this is reassuring for the baby, they feel more secure wrapped up especially for first few weeks, this is what the midwifes will tell you to do in the hospital..good luck hope this helps

Babies are most comfortable when swaddled i.e wrapped in the blanket, put the baby on the blanket and wrap it over one side and tuck it under baby's bottom then wrap the other side over and tuck under, make sure you have a thermometer in the room (a good baby shop will sell one which will tell you how many blankets etc you need according to temp of room). Hope this helps.

I would just put a tucked blanket in the crib and swaddle the baby. I wouldn't put the baby under the blanket...the little one could get wrapped up in it. Besides, newborns like to be swaddled because it gives them the feeling of being in the womb.

If I undertand your question- I usually put a thin blanket on the baby seat-then put baby in the swing wrapped in a blanket-then BUCKLE the baby in. This is what I have always done-hope this helps!

ps Ok I didn't understand your question-I tought you were saying a baby swing-but sorry I cannot help-i have never seen a swinging crib!! Unless you mean a bassinet? Either way good luck!

I also had a swinging crib and couldnt find any fitted swaddle my son in a shawl, he slept realy well. I never used a loose blanket, u can buy sleeping bags/gro bagsinstead of using a blanket, as i did when my son was about 3 months. congrats on the new baby x

I had to use a fitted sheet and a gro bag as my little one would not lay still for 5 minutes and ended up with either no blankets and cold or blankets over her face which was distressing for both of us.
Unless you are prepared to swaddle, I would avoid blankets for now.
by the way, you can get ready-made swaddle blankets that do up with velcro.

When my son (now 12 weeks) was newborn I didn't wrap him in a blanket to sleep as I was worried he would overheat. I would use a sheet and some light blankets and tuck them in about up to his chest.

I have 4 kids and I have always wrapped the baby's in blankets when they were newborn.try wrapping them like you would wrap a burrito in a light blanket and then put a blanket on top but do not cover the face.Good luck

I didn't have a swinging crib but I did put a fitted sheet in my crib and then when my daughter was real little I swaddled her in her blanket at bedtime. She seemed to sleep better. congratulations on the new baby

They actually sell snuggle sack things-two different kinds. One is like how to swaddle babies without having to tuck in the blanket, you just put the baby in and Velcro it up. The other is like a sleep sack. Both are good, but just remember that you'll be changing diapers, so make sure it's something easy to do in the dark!
