It's pretty dangerous. I used to work in a printmakers workshop on Coldharbour Lane and hated leaving late at night. The market is fun and theres definately a buzz about the place, but I definately wouldnt live there.
Camberwell is safer, so is East Dulwich. Dont get beaten up.

I love Brixton. It's not nearly as bad as you think. The people who get in trouble are the people who are looking for it. You'll be fine.

its okay got a great multicultural society compared to what it was before brixton is actually better than it was years ago. hope this is helpful enough

many people could say that the east is the worst, and the west is the richer extra useful side. it quite is punctiliously incorrect. I come from the west and it quite is not very diverse from the east. i could quite % to stay in Rome although in stead of London! i could advise residing on the outskirts of London, not in the centre the place it quite is busy, overcrowded, polluted, noisy and expensive! wish this enables :-)

nah, its not that bad at all.. if you're street wise, you'll be fine.. its got a great selection of bars and clubs... the culture is fantastic and it a short trip into town... like every area in london its got its down sides, but which part hasn't? for every person who thinks its rough, i know five who think it isn't...
