I am asking because according to Wikipedia's article on American Idol, "the 2005 auditions featured a "cannibal" who had sampled human flesh in an anthropology class." WHAT? Is that true? How is that possible? Surely it is not legal. And if it is illegal, then why didn't the guy get arrested? I'm confused. Does anyone know any more about this?

not to mention the obvious health risks to tasting a human cadaver!

I found an article on American Idol's own official site that says that the contestant did make that claim. So apparently, wikipedia is right.

I can't understand why people didn't raise a huge fuss over it.

I'm not aware of any states that have cannibalism specifically as a crime. However, most if not all states have laws against abuse of a corpse, and generally speaking cannibalism would fall under this.

In certain educational situations, such as someone donating their body to science, it may very well be perfectly legal.

Every state has their laws published online. Just use Google to find the laws in your state. You can usually find them by typing in "[your state] revised statutes".

No am not fmiliar but am sure to sample ,consume human flesh is illegal not maatter where or when it occurs. Be aware this is the INTERNET and anyone can add information to Wikipedia and the information is not verified that it is actually true-thats stated on the Wikipedia Site. This is a case where not everything one reads is true

Actually, if the body was donated for study purposes, and depending upon where (as in what country) this occurred, then YES, it could be legal for someone to consume human flesh.
Professors and classes can take great liberties with donated cadavers.

Many people donate their bodies to science, whether its skin, eyes, internal organs etc and it is legal to use a corpse as a tool in teaching.

Sorry I just caught the sampling as tasting..,no thats no legal..,oh man that is sooo sick.
