Install some programms to check if Trojans or Viruses were installed to be save. You should also use a firewall to prevent something like that in the future.

If you have some money to spend get Norton Suite

I doubt very seriously if your computer was hacked, or you would have lost more than half of your desktop icons. You either have a virus or some severe spyware problem.

There are online services that can check it out for you. They can actually search your computer online and tell you if something's wrong. It's expensive though.

sounds like an eternal problem, not anything to be worried about. try rebooting. then try to scan in safe mode with your security software and see if anything comes up. could be spyware, too. try those options and if at worse try a ststem restore. if you got serious **** on your system, then opt for the destructive system restore in EMERGENCY CASES." sounds like a mild case problem to me.
