I left my guinea pig with someone for two months and she is very sick. We went to late to the vet, and if she gets the surgery, she might die, and if she doesn't, she might die. What do I do?

What type of malclusion does she have? Your guinea pig shouldn't be 'sick' if she has malculsion...that is simply where the teeth have grown too long or have formed wrong in the animal's mouth. If her teeth are too long, you can find a breeder who will help you clip their teeth. You will have to clip the teeth for the rest of her life. I woulod only do the surgery if she has an ingrown tooth, or if the problem is in the roots of her teeth. I've seen pictures of rabbits with malclusion who's teeth had worn a hole through the rabbit's cheek. Assess for yourself how bad it is, then let your vet know.

If she's sick other than just having malclusion, then there is something else wrong with her.

if i were you i would try and proceed with the surgery and if something bad does happen to your guinea pig then you will at least know that you did try and help it because if something was to happen to it and you didnt get it the surgery then you would always have a gut feeling wether or not the surgery might have saved it. in the meantime whoever it was that let my guinea pig get into this condition would have to go to court for cruelty to animals now i do not know what exactly to tell you because i dont know the situation the animal was in but if it was in a unhealthy condition you could make that person pay for the surgery and you get money for compensation. good luck and i hope everything works out!!!!

i would get the surgery because if you dont, she will die a more painful death than if she dies in the surgery. it is only a small chance that she'll die in surgery, where as it is for sure she'll die without it.

I hope she gets better! and maybe next time, get someone who actually knows how to care for rodents...sounds like she didnt get enough hard things to chew on!

If it were me, I would get the surgery. Hopefully she will survive the surgery, and if she does, make sure you keep a close watch on her teeth and if they look too long take her to the vet to get her teeth trimmed regularly.

we had a hedgehog that died of cancer there life span isnt that long like 3-4 yrs so dont pay alot for surgery it may not help. I understand that u may be attached but dying is a fact of life and the olny pets like dogs and cats live longer that 10 years!
