I notice that teen movies always change and mess up high-school tradtions such as proms, and graduation parties. For example, in "Not Another Teen Movie" they have a "Prom" and supposedly, the class has already "graduated," at the end of the prom, etc. Everyone knows the prom is traditionally in May or so, well before graduation. Another common thing I see is: single men and women showing up at a Prom? That leads to misconceptions in life. Think about it, have you ever been to a prom where some young boys showed up without dates? Why would they even be thinking of it? Maybe showing up in front and not paying to go in, alone.

Can anyone explain this?

They are just movies. Not real life. They write these things to service the story and the plot.

I don't think the producers of "Not Another Teen Movie" set out to portray a realistic and accurate account of high school.

Also, the idea of a guy showing up to prom by himself is obviously the fantasy of a high school nerd who grew up to become a Hollywood screenwriter.

Are you that ignorant???

Their is not a set rule for Proms across America. Some of my friends went without dates to our Prom, which took place my Junior year in April.

Also, NATM is a pretty awful example to use of a "teen" movie. It's like calling scary movie a horror.

No one really freaks out about prom, it is true though, movies do make a big deal about prom. Besides, guys usually show up with dates, girl's don't if they have friends.
