Hi we are planning a vacation to Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, can anyone suggest a good a hotel in either of these places. I would like something fairly cheap [$100-125] and something in a nice neighborhood, with a pool. Also is there any attractions in theses two places that you consider a must see.

I'd suggest a couple of alternatives, in addition to the great inputs from others here, to do your research. Firstly go the official State/Province tourism website of Alberta and have a fossik around there. It's rich with info. I put a link in below for you.

Then have a look around on a good hotel directory website. USD 100 to $125 should get you a 3 - 4 star hotel, and if your're lucky you might push 4.5 stars. Calgary looks cheaper.

Here's some links for:

Calgary: http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/Canada/Calgary/ from around USD 60

Edmonton : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/Canada/Edmonton/

Check the photo images as they tell a thousand words, and also check the descriptions which should reveal if a pool is available. Location is important, so i guess you first need to find where you are going to visit the most and go from there.

Good luck with your planning

1. Calgary to Edmonton is approximately three hours. 2. Some other stores are Aritzia, Urban, Underground, and a few others. There are mall maps inside, and they are very helpful for getting around. 3. & 4. There are a few good shoe stores in there, Foot Locker is always a good one, but I think there are two others. Once again the mall map is a useful tool. 5. there are a few good restauraunts in the mall including The old spaghetti factory, boston pizza, and Tony Roma's. Outside the mall there is plenty of good eating including the Keg, Sawmill, Red lobster, Olive garden, Moxies and many more! 6. There is the T& T asian supermarket located in the mall on the top level. 7. The Mindbender is pretty sweet. not too bad! and the galaxy orbiter is a fun one. (age 16-18) 8. They have a hotel called the Fantasyland hotel that has different themes for their rooms. But there are other hotels very near. hope this helps!

Calgary: The zoo is a world-class attraction, also Canada Olympic Park, Heritage Park. Downtown, there are the Devonian Gardens. The Radisson has a $130 deal with tickets to the zoo. There are a lot of cheapish places, up around motel village...Travellodge, the Planetarium.

Edmonton: The Legislative Assembly, the Space Science Centre, West Edmonton Mall.

Calgary has a huge 2nd storey mall connecting all of the office and commercial buildings downtown. It's called the plus 15 and here is a map of it.

It includes a few key hotels as well. Edmonton has one similar called the ped-way.
