if u are wondering if u should buy a r22 unit now .then yes.r22 is about the cheapest freon on the market .and will be for the next 20 years.and most units are rated for 15 years !!any more they are disposiable

Production will end in 2010. This will begin phaseout by 2020. No new R-22 will be manufactured after this. Will have to used recycled or stockpile.
Use will be allowed until 2030.
