You find the length and the width of the envelope.

measure the length and the width
assume the thickness can be ignored
multiply the length with the width and with two
then you ghet a number that is the surface of the envelope
actually the envelope is a little big bigger because you have to be able to close the envelope, you dont want that the post man reads the letters you send to your bf.

on the box. I have a box sitting here and they are 41/8"by91/2" or10.4by24.1 cm
