call the customer service (800) 922-0204, they'll switch it for you.
make sure you can locate the ESN number on your phone.

As long as the phone you purchased is Verizon compatible, you should be able to activate it no problem. You can either go to a Verizon retailer or call your Verizon customer service number (you can probably get it off one of your bills) and they'll transfer you to a person who can help you & tell you what info you need to give them in order to activate the phone properly.
