Yeah, there is a little debate over it. See, you dream in a stage called REM. To get there you go through about 4 stages in which your body relaxes and you mind shuts off. Basically by the time you reach REM you are completly unconcisous. That's why people wonder if you can control dreams. But in Lucid dreaming you have the realazation 'hey, this is a dream'. It doesnt happen often, but when you realize it, you have power to vaugly steer your dream. You can't totaly control your dream, dreams are subconcious messages.
If you have a question though, you can try thinking about it over and over until you fall asleep. that way your subconcious is more atuned to that particular problem.
which is all dreams are, your subconcious working on your problems.
hope this helps

Usually people have far more dreams during the night than they can even remember ... the dreams that you do 'remember' are the ones you have during the 'last' REM sleep before you wake up, and you remember more when you are woken 'suddenly' rather than simply waking up 'naturally' ... and no, you can't 'control' your dreams, because the dreams are from your 'subconscious mind' and the 'control' is in the conscious mind' and the one can't change or control anything in the other.

Sometimes, yes. This is called lucid dreaming, and there is actually quite a lot of information about it on the Internet. You can probably find some here:

dreams depend on what you do during the day. if you drive all day you dream about driving, if you haven't got enough sex and horny all day, you dream about making out.

so yes it is possible to control the dreams by doing the same activity excessively during the day.

I don't know about dreaming what you want, but if you can look at your hand in your dream purposely, you can like, move it around and do what you want and do things that you want to happen if that makes sense...

yes. it takes time to perfect it but i've done it. once you realize it's a dream you can control it. but it's kinda like a steering wheel...if you let go, the dream will continue in any other direction. it's really fun.

To some extent........if you set your mind to what you want while falling asleep and stay focused on just that you have a good chance, also if you have some problem that you need an answer to you can focus on the question until you fall asleep and frequently get the answer.
