I think he did a great job. So what if he was emotional, he lived and breathed that burden for every momet in his life for over a week. He was exhausted and still managed to made them all putty in his hands.
He made the right decision, a Mother should be buried with her child.
When my Aunt died, we buried her ashes along with her first son who had died 7 years earlier. She had lived 2 states away, so it was not an easy task. We knew it was the right decision!

Several points-
Was he too emotional? *shrugs*... As long as his rulings are legal, then I really don't have any concern about him showing his own feelings.
Did HK Stern actually do ANYTHING illegal? Signing a check on someone else's behalf is not illegal, if the person owning the account has authorized him to do so. No one knows who made the choice to buy a boat, or to take a trip to Florida.
Is there CONCRETE evidence to show that Stern had any part in causing either death? Or was he sitting there, watching 2 persons he loved, both strung out on illegal drugs, and putting their own lives on the line?
Last... contrary to what people seem to be concluding, the Judge DID NOT choose where Anna is to be buried. He determined WHO has the authority to make that choice. Anna left a legal next of kin, which is the baby. The baby is represented by a guardian, who makes decisions on her behalf, and technically is a neutral party. Technically, that guardian could now choose to have her buried in China.
Since he has the authority to make the decision, he takes into account the reality that even TV footage shows Anna talking about the hostility between her mom and herself, which supports that she would NOT have wanted mom to have control. He also takes into account the fact of her attachment to her son, and she purchased more than one plot next to the son. No brainer what she would want.
As for a decision on paternity.. the entire reason for a guardian, is that paternity is in dispute. Custody and paternity cases have to be heard in the RIGHT jurisdiction, and their laws will apply. Florida has no authority to deal with that question, since the baby was born elsewhere, and never lived in Florida. I still don't have a clue why Birkhead filed a case in California. He may have a case.. but it has to be filed in the correct place.

F. He might make a solid decide. besides, he empathized with the folk who looked in front of him yet he ruled based on the regulation no longer emotion. as properly, there is no longer a decide obtainable who would not dream of having a television judgeship. decide Judy averages $13 million a year, on a similar time as a time-honored decide makes approximately $a hundred,000.
