how do I tell if...?

Question

how do i tell if one of my guppies is a female and pregnate. i had two guppies but one of them died so i got three others and my other guppie is smaller then them all and has a bigger belly oh and all the tanks at the store where i got them from all said male but you never know.

Females have a fan shaped or normal looking anal fin. That's fin under the bottom of the fish Here's a picture of a female:

Males have a pointed tube shaped anal fin. Here' s a picture of a male:

The female will get dark at the rear of her belly when she is pregnant. The female in that picture is somewhat pregnant. Here's a picture of a very pregnant female:

the male guppy has an elongated and pointed belly fin while the female has a rounder belly fin. Pregnant guppies have a dark spot in front of the belly fin. The spot is the babies inside her. the spot will get bigger the farther along she is. also note, guppies will eat the young (fry) so if pregnant you should get a breeder trap or have plants and things that the fry can hide under.

Its fairly easy to tell males from females. Look at the anal fin (the one on the bottom of the fish, closest to the tail). If it is long, thin and pointed, it is a male. If it is fan shaped, it is a female. If it is a female, you can tell whether she is pregnant by the "gravid spot", which is located just above the anal fin. It will turn a dark black when she is ready to give birth.

Exactly as above, the female if preg. will swell up and turn black on bottom near anal fin. Black being the eyes of the fry. OOOOOOOOOOOO...><>:)
