Keeping the goldfish in there WAS making the tank ready for tropical fish. If the water tests okay, go for it!!!

Goldfish and tropical fish choose 2 categories of tanks. Goldfish can stay in chillier water without a heater and tropical fish choose warmers and filters and all that. you will probaly finally end up killing on or the different.

Make sure you clean the tank well cleaned and heated before putting the fish in. The goldfish should have made enough *ehem* to create the bacteria, but it would be a good idea to check the levels every few days. If you dump alot of fish in at once, it may overload the bacteria.
But im sure you'll be fine! Just make sure you dont put too many fish in at onces(one gal. per inch of fish is the rule of thumb) and Have fun!

There isn't much more to do for your tank since you cycled it beautifully (good for you!). Make sure you have a heater in the tank (keep the temp between 74 and 78 degrees depending on the fish you are putting in there), and make sure you don't add too many fish at a time (and don't overstock!). Keep an eye on the levels each time you add more fish, and wait for the ammonia and nitrites to drop before you add any more.

Good luck!

A heater would be good. Goldfish are dirty and cold water. Clean bottom and filter. Water at 76-80 for tropicals. I put 10 zebra danios in my 55 first Good Luck..><>:)

I would have kept the goldfish in there, a single goldfish needs 55 gallons of aquarium, that is perfect size for a goldfish, it would have definitely reached its maximum size.

if you already know what type of tropicals...cool...if not ask at the pet store as some species do not do well with others some need higher saline some live bearers, some need schools, semi agressive, fin nippers ...and so on.
heres hoping happy tank days ahead for you

What are you gonna do with the goldies? I hope you arent putting them in a smaller tank, becuase you do need at least 20 gallons per goldie

It depends on the type of fish. You might need a heater or you might need a cave or some sort of hiding place.

i would add a heater, plants, a filter, and i usually add a little bit of salt(not table salt). You can buy it at any pet store that sells fish.
