Hi all I am hoping someone out there in cyber space can help me out, today I got a brand new pc with windows vista on it and I am dying to get online with it so i can do away with my laptop computer anyways i dont know much about the whole thing with getting it hooked up with a wireless usb stick I was told today at bestbuy that any one will work with linksys routior? so anyone HELPPPPPPP LOL

most newer routers support old and new protocols. Find out which protocol your router is using (802.11g or n) and get the matching part for your computer.

if you use a g (the slower of the two protocols) router and buy an n usb bridge, it will only be able to transmit / receive at the slower g speed and you wasted your money one the faster part.

The trick behind buying add-ons for your network is the letter. If the router is G then the USB stick must be G; etc...

That should be it. If you have a Linksys router you do not need a Linksys USB stick and brand will work as long as the letter is the same.

Mostly, yes, as long as the device follows the standard 802.11 standard, it'll work.
