I'm doing a virus scan right now. and this didn't happen till I used a windows washer, which that program has never done this before. after trying to run it the first time, I got an error message from it. I opened an e-mail from yahoo mail, which didn't have anything in it, and it was from a friend, could I of gottan a virus from that? Or what could it be?

First, allow the program to finish, it may just be scanning and making the computer really slow. If it has already finished and your icons are for sure gone, then double check in your control panel/add-remove programs to make sure that the program did not delete them permanently. If it did delete them, there is hope! If you have Windows XP, you can do a system restore. Go to start, programs, accessories, system tools and click on system restore. The system restore will not delete any files, it will bring back all the programs that were deleted. The best choice is to choose the day the computer ran smoothly. Hope this helps!
