Free does not always mean legal....or safe!! Most file-sharing programs leave it up to you to determine what rights you have to use or share the files that you download or upload.
You can download LimeWire from the following site. It's a wonderful file sharing program from which you can download or upload almost anything (including viruses, if you're not careful, and this is true of ALL programs, free or not):

This is the only official free site that I would recommend to download LimeWire from because other sites tend to put in add-ons or try to charge you for this service which is free if you don't want to buy the PRO version.
When you install LimeWire, please be careful about what file you designate for "sharing". I find that the default file location under C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Shared which is recommended in the installation is just fine for me, but you MUST be careful about what you ever copy or save to this file because it could get shared with other users.
It's a GREAT program and very useful, but you should READ EVERYTHING in the help menus, etc. before you install it and/or use it so that you understand what you are doing.

Even limewire and morpheus are starting to go the way of napster...there's not really any good free music downloading programs right now but hopefully one will start up soon. They're really cracking down on music sharing now though so who knows.

Most free music downloads are illegal so I don't know where you should go to get these downloads. I suggest download itunes and then buy an itunes giftcard and buy songs. It is a dollar per song and 2 dollars per video!
