I also don't think his career is ruined, however i do think that The Cable Guy and The Majestic were pretty bad movies!!!!

For me it was The Majestic and The Truman Show ( it was ok but not that good). That movie ruined his ability to make me really laugh. Since that movie his career has been on the decline...He should have took movie roles in comedy instead of trying to playing in a drama.

He just decided to grow up and not do stupid comedies like Ace Ventura anymore.
I don't think his career is ruined at all. Many actors do crappy movies ala Number 23, but look at Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine, 2 of his post "stupid" comedy movies, and his acting in those was fantastic.

I have not seen the movie "The Number 23" but I hated that one about the pets he made. What was it? Oh, Pet Detective, I think, hated that movie.

those are 2 large video clips you listed. i will flow with Dumb and Dumber as my fave, too. They on no account crack a grin or 'wink' on the digital camera, and the ending... only KILLS me! i am going GET on the BUS!!!! ...yet they do no longer. real to the top.

He's just in that phase in life that he wants to be taken as
a serious actor
