Is it unreasonable for a man to pursue an extra-marital affair? Can it not simply be regarded as a leisure activity like golf or archery, given that men's view of sex is very superficial and meaningless? Can a man's wife not accept her husband's affair merely as an entertainment that doesn't reflect in any way a lack of love for her?

Depends of the culture/country. In some Third World countries that seems to be okay, if not even encouraged.

The problem is that sex is view differently from a woman's perspective (in most but not all cases), it might seem very superficial and meaningless to you but not to a woman especially to a married woman.

If you want an open relationship/marriage then you must allow your wife/girlfriend to "explore her options" as well.

This is the movie section not friendship and relationships part of Answers...
But to answer this ...women tend to tie love and sex together. If you look somewhere else she will feel like she not good enough for you and she does not make you happy aymore that why you had to go see the whore on the street cornor. If you cheat it will ruin her selfesteem and give her douts about why you want another chick when you had her all along.
Frankly if you wanna cheat get a divorce from her nad you can have all the fun time you want. Just don't except to bring her back cause you want to bang other chicks and can't keep it in your pants.

Open relationships can sometimes work.
But you gotta understand it cuts both ways... If a man can have extra marital then so can the woman....
As long as its agreed before the marriage, no probs, but if its sly and cunning the man wants for the kicks of being deceptive... expect to have the tackle cut off slowly & painfully and hopefully publicly.... :-)

Of course the woman may well find a man with bigger bollocks to love & comitment than your pondering is indicating....

If a man wants to have affairs then he shouldn't get married. The whole point of getting married is to commit to one person.

No. Once you are committed to your wife, you stay with her until death do you part. If you want to cheat on your wife, you should have not married her in the ifrst place. In other words, you either married too soon or you cannot settle at all. It is that simple.
