I have 2 goldfish. The one has had very interesting behavior the past couple of days. I call them Harry and Wilson. Wilson has been chasing Harry feverishly around the tank...almost like he is attacking him. I researched this and it sounds like Harry is really a she and may have egg sacs that Wilson can "smell". Not sure though. Harry has been hiding under a tree/log in the tank all day long. I have moved it a couple of times because at first I couldnt find him. He would swim out and around but immediately Wilson would follow him and be on his tail. Harry is back under the log and I have left him be. He is so tiny I am afraid he will become stuck and wont be able to get food when I feed them. What do you think?

Maybe Harry is really a Harriet and she is trying to find a place to lay her eggs, but you keep interrupting her and never giving her a chance to find a "safe" place. Leave her alone for a while. She won't die if she doesn't eat for a few days. As far as getting stuck, see if you can set up a mirror so that you can see her without bothering her just to make sure she is okay.

Harry may be 'hiding' because all of Wilson's chasing him is 'breeding behavior' ... I'm guessing that you have them in a large enough tank and that Harry is 'hiding' to lay her eggs ... and she'll 'hang around them' until they hatch. Don't worry about Harry starving, because she'll eat when she needs to eat ... otherwise, watch out for 'baby fish' ... if you can, put a 'net' up in the middle of the tank to keep Wilson away from the babies, because the 'dad' frequently 'eats' the new offspring' ... and move Harry as soon as possible after they hatch, because she'll eat the babies, too ... good luck.
