My friend is starting her own business with Avon, she needs to host parties so she is bugging all her friends to bug their friends to host parties.

She is asking me for my mother-in-law's phone number so she can call her, and she is asking for my mom's number. She doesn't even know them!

I already found one friend to have a Avon party and I said I didn't know any more people so please stop asking me to find new people, but she won't leave me alone!

What can I do? I am really disliking her right now for trying to use me to find new contacts for her business.

She obviously doesn't know where to draw the line. I'm an Avon Representative, and I would NEVER make my friends feel this uncomfortable and pressured. It's one thing to ask if you'd be interested in doing a party, but to hound you endlessley for your family's information is inappropriate.

Perhaps you could let her know that they aren't interested. She must be new at this, and sounds like she needs to take advantage of Avon's free training about prospecting new customers.

You could suggest that she contacts her upline to find out how to effectively build her client base. If her upline isn't resourceful, she could contact her District Sales Manager who is FULL of training idea's and offers regular optional meetings with inspirational methods of how to prospect.

Avon Representatives have access to many resources online and oodles of training. Tell her to log in to her avon account and check out the FREE Centra training that will help her to build her business.

I hope this helps!

Hello. My name is Renee and I am a Avon representative from florida. I find it a little unusual that your friend needs to host parties with Avon, but that is ok. It may be a different way of doing things where you are from. I would tell your friend that you feel uncomfortable giving out names of your family without asking them first about being contacted. I would ask your friend to stop pushing the issue because it makes you feel uncofortable around her and you will help her when you feel it is appropriate for you. Let her know that you applaud her enthusiasm but that the names that you gave her are all the contacts that you feel comfortable giving her right now.

^There is a time and place for everything, sounds like she's overdoing it. The ironic thing is years ago I was a head hunter for an employment agency, I've always been a friendly person and talked to people I didn't know all the time, waiting in line, waiting for trains or buses etc. When I became a head hunter someone would start talking to me or I would start up a normal conversation and after a while I found I was interviewing them, I would then apologize, because that wasn't my intent, the reason I'm telling you this is maybe she doesn't even realize she is doing this and needs to be told nicely. Good luck, I hope this helps.

I had this identical issue with a Mary Kay lady... Just tell her once that you are not interested in participating so much in her business and wish her luck. If she continues pestering you, just don't answer her calls. If she is persistent enough, she will make her business work, on her own, without having to get you involved.

Unfortunately she needs to be put in her place.... kindly tell her to please back off and that it is inappropriate for her to ask for family members numbers, specially if she doesn't know them.
