I was told to read to him but my son is a very active child who from the moment he learned to turn over doesn't stay still for me to change his clothes much less to read him a story. If i don't read to him often does that mean he won't be a bright child.

No. It doesn't mean he won't be a bright child. Treat him like a normal person ALWAYS absolutely NO baby talk. That will mess him up forever. Books and DVDs won't make things different. However, depending on what books you read him and how much time you spend with him his attachment to you will differ. Put him in an educational environment, so he can learn on his own. Just make it safe. But just safe enough so he still has enough freedom to learn. If you need help on the details consult a child psychologist.

My son was the same way. He would sit still for only one baby dvd. Baby Einstiens Da Vinci. He didnt seem to the like the wordsworth one. Try other Baby Einstein ones that have puppets and music.
In the da vinci one my son laughed the most when the elephant would sneeze. You best bet would be to go to your local library and check out different dvds and books each week. Then when you find one that he really likes, you could buy it.

At seven months children are stimulated by everything and anything. Just be sure that you keep track of all that stimulates him in any way at the same thing making sure that these stimulation's are of a positive note. Be sure to hold, cuddle and cuddle him as much as possible. And be sure you tell him how much you LOVE him every waking or sleeping moment you come in contact with him.

The best thing you can do is get down in the dirt and play with him. One hour of intense Non-verbal interaction with an adult who is paying 100% attention to a kid is worth 10 hours of baby einstein videos and books.

If you want to read to him, get interactive books like "don't let the pigeon drive the bus" where a persistent pigeon begs the reader to let him drive the bus and the kid is supposed to yell "NO" when the pigeon asks him to.

Another good book is called "NO DAVID" where a kid keeps doing "bad" things. It's hilarious.

Lots and lots of Mozart. My sister did, and she's an absolute GENIUS! Maybe less tv, and more interactive games, like stimulating toys and simple puzzles. Of course he doesn't listen during readings, just have mozart playing all the time, and well balanced foods, if he starts early, it'll be cake feeding him spinach in the future!

Not at all. Children arent usually the sit down and be still types. If he doesnt sit still, then maybe you should go at it another way....maybe you could try and read to him at night in his bedroom right before bedtime. Do it when he is getting sleepy already, and maybe read to him and rock him to sleep. If you do this for several nights in a row, your baby will get used to it, and learn to look foreward to it everynight!
Also a good dvd for babies is Baby Einstein. They have several good movies to choose from and they teach babies a lot!!

Let him run around, it's what they do, it's good for him, maybe have him listen to music while he plays or have hime play educational games like matching colours or the square peg, round hole thing. Playing stimulates the mind by teaching coordination which is important too. Although learning patience is also important...
