Maybe any longer than 9 mins will cause you to drop back into a deep sleep and not hear the next reminder ?

Well when you think about it...how long is a snooze really? At what point does a snooze turn into a nap? The purpose of a snooze is really for you to get yourself together to get up. What happens when your snooze doesn't go off? You end up over sleeping!

Pressing the Snooze button starts a binary counter, which re-starts the alarm when the counter overflows. A sixteen bit counter tallying line power alternations will trip in a bit over 9 minutes.

i never use the Snooze button...... i have to get up when the alarm goes off for the first time, or i'd never manage to convince myself to drag my a*se out of bed !!! i guess the reason why the manufacturers only choose to give u 9 more minutes is coz they know as well as u do that u really should be getting out of bed instead of going back to sleep !

The bianry answer makes sense technology wise. What it really comes down to is that they do not want us to get more than an extra nine minutes sleep.
More than that is a luxury not allowed.

Back in the 80's it used to be five minutes. But mine only gives me seven. But my clock is set ten minutes ahead, so really I'm waking up about 5:57 in the a.m.

super question! I even have continually puzzled approximately this secret as nicely... i became into like, "this dang clock could desire to be broken by some skill," when I had my clock and widespread observed it basically gave me 9 greater minutes to sleep. Then, i found out all of them (or majority) have been like this. I even have devised my own concept approximately this – notwithstanding that's easily no longer shown, nor am I claiming this to be actuality. i'm basically sharing with you my somewhat researched and knowledgeable concept. i think of it relatively has something to do with how we sleep. I bear in mind analyzing an editorial in a “Discovery well-being” mag that reported something very exciting. For an popular individual to *initially* doze off, it takes approximately 20 – 30+ minutes, notwithstanding, as quickly as we doze off and "get interior the zone" in case you will, we'd for despite reason could desire to upward thrust up. this could take place because of the fact, say a noise wakes us up (an alarm, somewhat one crying, dogs barking, and so on), or we'd could desire to apply the washing room, get a drink of water, or infinite different opportunities. nicely, as quickly as we upward thrust up after being asleep, our physique maintains to be in particularly of a "pause" mode for a quick mutually as to make it easier for us to come back to sleep. That way we would not upward thrust as much as apply the washing room, and then could wait half-hour to come back to sleep – particularly you in many circumstances can slip ideal back into sleep particularly at as quickly as. This pause mode on returning back to sleep that our physique holds out on lasts for roughly 10 minutes or so, so if we live inactive for roughly this long then the physique assumes that we are going back to relax and then initiates the procedures to place us back into relax mode. nicely, alarm clocks (i think of) are designed with this archives in recommendations. via giving a individual basically 9 minutes of greater sleep, the guy gets to relax somewhat longer, yet would not slip completely into an entire blown sleep back had they could in the event that they stayed inactive for 10+ minutes. of direction, there are exceptions which includes people who doze off completely and then in no way even pay attention the snooze alarm flow off back, and different ameliorations. notwithstanding, as I reported, that's *my own* concept on it and what i think of. Cheers!
