Yes I have seen a similar movie, but they were not brothers. Best friends. In the end the sick boy dies, and for some reason the friend puts a running shoe in his coffin. If I'm not mistaken, the boy had a rare blood disease/aids?, or the neighbourhood suspected such, and there was much stigma about their friendship. The movie was basically about the two boys maintaining a friendship under difficult conditions. A real tear-jerker. Sorry I don't remember the name. I'll put your question on my watch list and hope someone can help you out. It's definitely worth watching again.

I wish I could remember the name of the movie. But, I remember seeing it. It was very sweet and sad. I think the two boys build a raft and float down a river sort of Huckleberry Finn style.
