i have a mohawk because i like it and at the concerts i go to the punk rock ones it makes me fit in and to get attention

its a way to not conform.
by having a mohawk they are expressing their individuality and not conforming to normality

because the sillier they make themselves look, the better the chances of someone picking on them. Then it becomes that much easier for them to portray themselves as victims of society. They are so busy trying to be non-conformist that they are actually conforming with eachother!

its an outward sign of individualism and non-conformity. it sets one out in a crowd. i'm a punk, but i don't wear one because punk is all about avoiding stereotypes, and people have stereotyped punks as having them. i express my individuality with my opinions, not my hair.

because we dont like to look like everybody else. most punks have very strong ideas on american pop culture and individualism, and that is just one way to express it for all to see.
