Hi!
I bought my notebook from Circuit city last week. It also was loaded with vista home premium.(HP DV6244)..
I know its too bad that U wont be getting a notebook with XP pro
But Look at the bright side. U get Vista on your new lappyy
If U want to delete vista U surely can create a system restore disk , Format and install XP pro 32 bit or 64 bit edition
If U want to have both systems.. create two partions and install both as duel boot. I have done that and works fine.
I know Vista is SO cheesy and there are lot of bugs and require lot of service pack upgrades. But still its the future.
I would suggest to go with Vista. Once U started Using it U Will feel the difference. I' do lot of programing and I use Xilinx IDE to VS2005 and SQL server. I had to download a service pack. that's all. everything is cool and better in Vista.
It's also a hardy system... comparing to XP pro. If not what's the use of a new operating system out on the market... right?
Lot of Hackers gonna have problem with Vista atleast for another year because of its new Security features. Belive me there are lot of faults when it comes to security in XP pro SP2. Such as being able to login to XP system even if you are not the administrator. Theese were all fixed in Vista...(atleast for now)
So chill .... Vista is the new Fiesta :)

I hate to tell you this but now the VISTA has come out XP computers will no longer be available. You may want to try a less known computer store as they may still have old stock left. I don't blame you wanting XP, VISTA sucks. How about getting a mac? They are not virus/spyware prone like the known windows PC is (and the price is comparable)

Because vista is the new OS. It's probably the fact that computer makers are getting kickbacks from Microsoft for featuring Vista with the laptops. I think the only XP-based laptop you are going to find is a used one. Go to a pawn shop. I've seen some killer deals on laptops in my city. One time i saw a 3 gigahertz Dell laptop for $500.00. I didn't see anything wrong with it when i turned it on. Perhaps there was a problem that wasn't glaring, but it seemed in great condition.
good luck!

you are not going to find a pc sold through a big box store that does not have vista, unless it was on the shelves before xmas. Microsoft released Vista in January, and all sellers started loading that on automatically. Going to a Dell or HP via the iinternet, and you may be order a machine thru their business sales area, as most business are not having Vista loaded yet, they still get XP. You can also order a machine with no OS and then load the one you want.

Unfortunately, that's too bad because ALL new computers have Vista. If your lucky, there might be a couple that still host Windows XP, but very unlikely. However, if you buy a laptop from www.Newegg.com, a lot of the ones they’re selling still have XP installed on it.

Why you don't want Vista?. it's because you already try it and you didn't like it or is it cause all the negatives things people without having it have said.
Don't forget they give you 30 days, and if you not satisfied you always can return it.
Or you can go on line to those like HP and Dell and talk to an agent and ask him for a computer with XP OS

petrified of Vista? DONT be misled by the gossip! maximum of Vistas issues were by using human beings procuring it and installation it on inferior structures. human beings in simple terms DONT study the criteria on application packing containers. Vista is perfect. Mine runs completely, has effective aspects XP didnt have, and extremely last yet no longer least, runs maximum all of my application jointly with previous win95 apps that XP wouldnt. in case you nevertheless insist on some thing except Vista, you'll both favor to purchase a replica of XP, receive 7, or wait til microsoft comes out with 7 pre-put in

most computer companies should be perfectly willing to sell you a computer with winxp on it, if you are going to the big stores like costco or walmart, forget it, but some of the privately owned shops should do it for you
