Buy or borrow a DVD with pilates workout. They are not very expensive. Pilates is not aimed at flexibility as much as at core strength. But looking stiff doesn't necessarily mean lack of flexibility. More often it is related to not finishing your movement, cutting it short that in turn relates to lack of core strength. Pilates makes you look more flexible, stand taller and look thinner. Exactly what dancers need to look like.

Sit on the floor and touch your toes. This is stretching your hamstrings muscle. It is the best stretch to increase flexibility. Even if you cant do the splits do them everyday and you'll be surprised in the difference in just a year. All this stretching will only take 15 minutes a day. Good luck!

I don't think there is a way in which you can make yourself flexible. I have experienced it. You may do yoga or if you like you may try karate and stuff. Maybe Aerobics or Athletics will help. You can do some flexible excercises and some thing just think about it.

You should stretch at the beginning. But you SHOULD take at least ONE gymnastics class, to learn the proper stretches.

Try stretching out before dancing , and just relaxing and letting go. Try not to be mad, angry or stressed while dancing cause it is noticable.

Excercise daily. Not strenuous, but just a little bit to loosen you up.
