Unless you are an emancipated minor, 18 is the legal age. Granted, you can leave your parents' house sooner (although you'd be classified as a runaway and returned to your parents if the police found you), but no one is going to rent you an apartment unless your parents sign the lease and agree to be responsible for the payments. You also can't own your own car if you're under 18.

You can file for legal emancipation at the age of 16. You will have to demonstrate self-sufficiency and prove that being emancipated is in your best interests. Until then, you are the responsibility of your parents until you turn 18. You can't just leave though, that would put you under the category of a runaway.
